2014 Fizz,Boom,Read Summer Program Schedule

Wednesday June 25th  6:30 – 7:15 pm

Jackie the Magician’s Fizz, Boom, Read Summer Reading Show –Magic, ventriloquism, and lots of fun! 

Saturday June 28th Heritage Day Parade 9: 30 am

MAD SCIENTISTS! Children will need to wear a WHITE, BUTTON DOWN DRESS SHIRT (these will be our lab coats) as we change our appearance to the Mad Scientist Look!  We will meet at the library to complete their Mad Science costume with hair, makeup and accessories along with the finishing touches on our float. Float decorating will begin on the Friday evening before at 6pm and we welcome volunteers.  Children will be riding on the float in the parade only.   Line up for the parade begins at 10:30 am at the County Building and the parade begins at 11:00

Monday July 7th 6:30 – 7:30 pm

Totally Science Fun – Bet you can hold a friend on the ground with a thread!  How do you get a balloon to inflate in a bottle?  Join the fun to find the answers!!

Monday July 14th 6: 30 -7:30 pm

Tuesday July 22 6:15 pm

Fizz, Boom, Read: VOLCANO – “Volcanoes – one of nature’s biggest BOOMS!  Explore the science behind the eruption, and the build up to a volcano.  Who will have the biggest explosion!  Wear old clothes as it is going to get messy”.

Monday July 28th 6:30 – 7:30 pm

Mad Science Slime Time for Children ages 4, 5, and 6

Ooze into a gooey hour of sliming around!  Create slime using the Mad Science recipe, and then enter the Slime Olympics!  Take home your own concoction of Mad Science Slime!

Chem In a Flash for Children ages 7 and up – Learn about Physical and Chemical Changes.  Make your own Super Ball to take home from this Mad Science class.

Monday August 4th GRAND FINALE’

  • 4:45 pm – Pizza party and certificates
  • 5:15 pm – Science treasure hunt
  • 6:00 pm – Cool off with the Double Lane 20 foot WATER SLIDE!  


If torrential rain, thunder, lightning or other bad storm, the rain date is rescheduled for Thursday August 7th at the same time.

Due to a conflict in dates, our Science in Art Program   (fun ways to draw and learn through experimentation) needed to be rescheduled for after our grand finale’

  • Science In Art Monday August 11th 6:00 – 6:45 pm ages 4, 5, and 6
  • Science in Art for ages 7 and up 7:00 – 8:00 pm


    •  Requirements:

    • Open to children of all abilities ages Four – Twelve residing in the Village and Town of Fort Edward
    • Sign up for the Reading Program begins on Wed. June 18th and ends on July 2, 2014.
    • Reading contract between parent and child.
    • Pre-registration for all programs and events.
